7 Luxury And Unique New York Hotel Openings In 2021

19.01.2021

It’s hard to imagine that only one year ago masks, social distancing, and Covid-19 weren’t in our daily lexicon yet.

With so much happening in 2020, it’s time for a luxury experience in 2021!

While it has certainly been a complicated past year for hotels, event spaces, and venues in NYC, there’s optimism on the horizon. On the other hand, tourism is booming in the Catskills and upstate New York! We’ve never seen so many unique, luxury hotel openings north of our beloved Manhattan.

We at Best Venues New York have searched far and wide across New York to find the 7 most luxurious and one of a kind hotel openings in 2021.

1. The Fifth Avenue Hotel - New York City

Sophistication is the name of the game at The Fifth Avenue Hotel.

Opening in Fall 2021, The Fifth Avenue Hotel aims to maintain the building’s vintage history, which dates back to the early 20th century while offering guests a one of a kind experience. The entrance will feature 30-foot high majestic ceilings that warmly invite guests to linger in the lobby. The hotel is set to come equipped with a 5,000 square foot ballroom with 20-foot high ceilings and its very own bridal suite (Might we add this suite has its own terrace). This ballroom sounds perfect for a micro wedding!

2. Aman New York - New York City

Opening its doors to the public in spring 2021, Aman New York looks to combine the grandeur of the Gilded Age with a modern-day New York City touch. It’s hard to beat Aman’s location in the heart of Midtown, overlooking Central Park. The mixed residence and hotel features a three-story spa, a garden terrace, an underground Jazz bar, and world-class restaurants all on-site. It sounds like there is a new rooftop venue to add to our extensive NYC list. Aman New York offers drinks with a view just in time for summer 2021!

3. The Chatwal Lodge - Bethel, New York

Easy 90-mile drive north of the City will take you to Bethel, New York, home of the recently constructed Chatwal Lodge. Opening on April 1st, 2021, this beautiful getaway resort focuses on immersing its guests in upstate New York’s stunning nature and scenery. There are 10 suites on the property that follow a natural interior design theme and incorporate touches from Chatwal’s surroundings. The Lodge features a farm-to-table style restaurant, a luxurious spa with unique and exotic Ayurvedic wellness services, and a spectacular banquet facility to celebrate life’s special moments, your corporate’s next socially distanced retreat, or enjoy a relaxing weekend with a group of friends and family. There’s no denying that this Catskills hideaway secret will soon be known to luxury experience seekers in 2021!

4.The Aurum - Mount Temper, New York

Located next to Slide Mountain in the heart of the Catskills, The Aurum is a 36-room hotel and wellness center that is set to open in Fall 2021, just in time to see the fall colors! There are also 12 private bungalows that will have stunning views of the Catskills. The hotel is being developed by Million Dollar Listing New York star Steve Gold, who is emphasizing a luxurious upstate New York experience. The Aurum Thermae, modeled after a Roman hamam, is the centerpiece of the property. Instead of trying to push the boundaries and find the future of the spa experience, Gold decided to go back to the roots of what a spa should be: simple relaxation. This unique property will certainly be a must-visit in 2021!

5. Six Senses - New York City

It’s no understatement to say that Six Senses is one of the most luxurious and unique projects to land in NYC in 2021. Situated in the fast-paced West Chelsea, Six Senses is aiming to change our thinking for what is possible at an urban hotel and residence. The twisting towers that will house the complex will be home to 136 guest rooms and suites, a restaurant overlooking the High Line, and a beautifully designed cafe with an outdoor terrace. Start your day in the 45,000 square foot wellness center that has everything from a workout room to a yoga studio to a spa. Six Senses emphasizes (socially distanced) social spaces with its co-working and lounge area. There are even talks on leadership and business that can be streamed in guest rooms. It’s not hard to see why Six Senses is one of the most innovative, forward-thinking, and anticipated hotel openings in NYC in 2021!

6. Hutton Brickyards - Kingston, New York

If you’re searching for a down to earth, but still luxurious experience, Hutton Brickyards is your new home away from home!

Opening in April 2021 and spread across 73 acres on the banks of the breathtaking Hudson River, Hutton Brickyards has 31 guest cabins and suites to choose from. Hutton is a perfect mix of upstate charm and effortless elegance. The low key luxury of Hutton Brickyards is a well suite for a wedding or corporate retreat (Not to mention, that there is plenty of room to spread out!)

Hutton also offers a wide variety of activities from hikes to outdoor yoga in the summer and snowshoeing to cross-country skiing come wintertime. The fire pits are great for enjoying your group’s company and swapping stories at the end of the day. For those that are less athletically inclined, the on-site spa offers opportunities to indulge in ultimate relaxation. Glass saunas look upon grassland and the river, a striking change of pace from the hustle and bustle of New York City.

7. Margaritaville Resort - New York City

Jimmy Buffet and margaritas are not normally associated with NYC (Ok..Maybe margaritas!), but that will all change in 2021.

The Margaritaville Resort, located in the heart of Times Square, will open later this year. The 234 room, 29 story hotel is looking to bring a sense of escapism and relaxation to the bustling Times Square area. The property will feature a rooftop pool to lounge the day away, outdoor terraces to sip on cocktails, and 5 Margaritaville branded restaurants and bars. While no spa will be present on the property, guests can get lost in the laid back, “no-worries” mantra that Margaritaville seeks to uphold at all its properties.
